Why Builders Choose Them

Magnified optics give the shooter more target detail, better PID at distance, and more precise aiming references than a 1x dot alone. LPVOs are especially popular because they can be dialed down for close work while still offering magnification for intermediate distance. Fixed and higher-power scopes are common when the build is optimized for accuracy, hunting, or designated marksman roles.

Key Buying Considerations

Magnification Range: A 1-6x or 1-8x LPVO is a common all-around choice. Higher top-end magnification helps at distance but usually adds weight and cost.

Reticle and Focal Plane: First focal plane (FFP) reticles scale with magnification, while second focal plane (SFP) reticles remain visually consistent. Each has practical tradeoffs depending on how you use holds and ranging features.

Tube Diameter and Mounting: Common tube sizes include 1 inch, 30mm, and 34mm. Tube size affects mount selection, weight, and sometimes internal adjustment range.
