Colt Sp1 AR-15 SP1 sporter rifle. Production roughly 1964–1985. Barrel length 21.5–22 inches with pencil profile. Overall length about 38 inches. Weight approximately 6.3–6.8 lbs. Caliber .223 Remington (early rifles may be marked for 5.56 NATO). Direct impingement gas system. Twist rate 1:12 for 55gr bullets like M193. Upper receiver slick-side with no forward assist and no brass deflector. Lower receiver slab-side, fixed A1-style stock. Handguards triangular in early models, later round. Grip A1 pattern. Sights front fixed post; rear carry-handle adjustable aperture. Magazine detachable box magazine, 20-round standard; accepts 30-round mags. Key identifiers include no forward assist and lightweight pencil barrel. Includes one 20-round metal magazine.
