Trigger Options

The trigger is the most critical component in the kit. Mil-spec triggers typically have a pull weight of 5.5-8.5 lbs with some creep and grit—reliable but not refined. Enhanced mil-spec triggers offer polished contact surfaces for smoother pulls. Drop-in triggers provide the best performance with crisp breaks and lighter pulls (2.5-4.5 lbs), but at higher cost.

Quality Considerations

Look for kits with hardened steel pins that won't deform over time, properly heat-treated springs that maintain tension, and quality detents with proper surface finish. Cheap LPKs often have out-of-spec parts that cause reliability issues. Reputable manufacturers like Aero Precision, CMMG, and BCM offer consistent quality. If you're building a duty or defensive rifle, invest in a quality LPK—the small price difference is worthwhile for reliable function.
