Black Nitride (Ferritic Nitrocarburizing) Service

Black nitride simultaneously diffuses nitrogen and carbon into the surface of ferrous (steel) metals, forming an outer iron nitride layer with a nitrogen diffusion layer beneath.

Service terms

• Min charge: $100 for the first part (slide)
• Additional parts: any other parts (not including the frame) can be included for +$50
• Lead time: 3–8 weeks

Limitations

• Black nitride is available only for slides and frame parts; frames are not accepted.
• Can only be performed on steel parts; aluminum cannot be black nitrided.
• For black nitride only orders, the entire slide/frame must be disassembled prior to sending, including removing all internal components and removing the iron sights from the slide.
